- 🟨 Yellow group — things seen in a yard (GNOME, GRILL, SHED, SPRINKLER)
- 🟩 Green group — anagrams (ARES, EARS, SEAR, SERA)
- 🟦 Blue group — letter homophones (ARE, ELLE, QUE, QUEUE)
- 🟪 Purple group — dust _____ (BOWL, BUNNY, DEVIL, JACKET)
I can’t really explain it, but BUNNY and DEVIL caught my eye and “dust” sprang to mind. I vaguely remembered dust BOWL being a thing and a dust JACKET helps protect a book from damage. That meant I had the purples locked down.
ARES then jumped out at me. I wasn’t sure what that meant, but seeing it close to EARS on the smaller grid made me think those might be anagrams. I was proven right for the greens.
From there, the yellows made sense together as things you’d find in a back yard or garden. That left the blues for the win. QUEUE was a bit of a giveaway as to the category, but it’s a little cheeky to have that and QUE, which refers to “K.”
I enjoyed this one. The “Que Sera Sera” and BUNNY EARS references on the top line were fun too.
