Wordle Breakdown

Every day, I use the Wordle Bot to analyze my guesses and see how efficiently I played. You can check your own performance using.

For today’s puzzle, I kicked things off with the word PIOUS—not sure why it popped into my head, but that’s where we started. It wasn’t the most strategic choice, revealing just one green ‘I’ and leaving a hefty 203 possible solutions.

My second guess, TRADE, introduced four new letters and was far more effective, narrowing the field down to just eight candidates. I followed with DIMLY, hoping to test for a ‘Y’, but instead, it ruled out every option except one.

That one correct word? LIVID. Victory in four guesses!

Word of the Day: Etymology

Livid comes from the Latin lividus, meaning “bluish” or “lead-colored,” rooted in livere, “to be bluish.” Initially, it described the color of bruises. In English, it first referred to something discolored by bruising (early 1600s), and over time, it evolved to its figurative meaning: “furiously angry.” Fitting for today’s mood—especially if you’re the Wordle Bot.
